Bike Dreams: Raleigh Sojourn

2009's Raleigh Sojourn

2009's Raleigh Sojourn

Social obligations — utility bills and rent checks and student loan payments and — are so overrated. Sometimes you just want to pack it all on the back of a two-wheeled workhorse and pedal off into the sunset, to start a new adventure somewhere else,  just like countless adventurers did before computerized bank records and cell phones meant that we were permanently, perpetually tied into the system, and into each other.

If you’ve also been reading too much Hunter S. Thompson or listening to too much OK Computer lately, the Sojourn is our ticket out. The beefy Cro-Molly frame and fork will dampen the long ride, while the Shimano components (including Dura Ace shifters) will keep the gears moving until the dogs catch us. The Brooks saddle adds some understated style, for man cannot live on function alone, even during the most daring of cultural/social escapes.
